Meditation: Paying Attention to Paying Attention

by Steve Daitch on June 29th, 2009

Children MeditatingMeditating helps you develop a greater awareness of what’s happening inside you from one moment to the next.

All it takes is simply sitting in a comfortable environment for around 20 minutes each day and focusing on breathing in and breathing out. When your mind drifts off to something else, like your job, refocus your attention on your breathing.

By paying closer attention to your thoughts, emotions, and body sensations, you are training yourself to focus better and longer. Indeed meditation is proving to be particularly beneficial for children suffering from ADHD, and a welcome alternative to medication.
