Logic
and Reasoning
are the cognitive skills with which we reach sound conclusions
in order to make decisions and solve our daily life problems.
How we reach these conclusions is based on the information we
receive through our various senses and process it. Although we
constantly apply logic and reasoning, many times we are not even
consciously aware of our doing so. By receiving stimuli and applying
logic to arrive at correct conclusions, we are performing the
mental task of reasoning. However, unlike our instinctive decisions,
meaning those made based on emotional responses, cognitive reasoning
typically requires longer response times.

How to Train Your Brain "Use it or lose it is certainly the name of the game when it comes to cognitive training. Accumulating evidence even indicates that proper mentally stimulating activities reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease. With age, naturally, we all experience declines in our various cognitive abilities.
Initial decline generally begins in the cognitive areas of memory and divided attention, specifically the speed at which it takes us to process and react to information. With aging adults, this decline becomes even more apparent, leading to increased difficulties in performing even the simplest day-to-day tasks.
Until recently, cognitive training was practiced exclusively by people suffering from severe mental damage or cognitive skill deficiencies. We now know that each individual can benefit from cognitive training, provided that this training is accurately adapted to treat each persons own specific needs.

Is
Brain Training effective for kids?
Though brain training research is still in its infancy, increasingly
more studies are indicating that brain training games do indeed
have positive effects not only on adults, but children as well.
Whats long been known is that through proper training, youngsters
can better develop their cognitive skills, and at a faster rate
than grownups. Until now, most research has focused on children
with ADD or ADHD, especially in areas of concentration, memory,
response control, and information processing speed. While children
diagnosed with disorders have demonstrated improvements in their
abilities, a number of brain training games are also on the market
to help children without disorders also further develop their cognitive
skills, such as attention, memory, thinking and reasoning, visual
perception, and even executive functions. |
