Homer SimpsonYes. According to a study conducted at Massachusetts’ Wellesley College, the more alcohol you consume, the smaller your total brain volume becomes, thus adversely affecting your cognitive functions.

 

Researchers also discovered that the link between alcohol consumption and diminished brain volume was even more evident among females. This was probably due to the fact that, because of women’s smaller size, they are more susceptible to the effects of alcohol.

 

Booze You Lose

 

Moderate drinking, meaning no more than one drink per day, is still considered safe, possibly even healthy. Want a tip? If a glass of white wine with dinner is your thing, consider making a spritzer by substituting some of the wine with sparkling water. Doing so will reduce your consumption even more and prevent further brain shrinkage. Now we’ll drink to that.
