Stressed Out? Play Video Brain Games

by Steve Daitch on July 2nd, 2009

An East Carolina University study involving more than 120 men and women aged 18 to 70 has proven that playing even casual video games reduces stress and can improve congnitive skills leading to memory improvement.

The 6-month study used state-of-the-art electroencephalography (EEG) and heart-monitoring equipment to gauge both participants’ mood and stress levels. Stress is believed to be a major contributor to the six leading causes of death.

The results of the research suggest casual video games are well-suited for a number of therapeutic applications.
